I bought a bag over the weekend to test how edible this stuff was before my camping trip next month. i gotta say, this stuff really impressed me. it certainly doesn't compare to something you'd get at a nice restaurant, but for something that's freeze-dried and you only have to add hot water to, it was very impressive. i place the flavor somewhere around stouffer's oven baked lasagna. it's all crumbled up in the packaging, so it looks more like a can of chef boyardee lasagna.setup was simple, tear the pouch open, take out the little oxygen packet, pour in some hot/boiling water, stir, zip up the packet and wait. i didn't have a cup to measure the exact water amount, so i guesstimated the water level, and everything turned out fine (you can always add more hot water later, it's hard to remove water if you put too much in). common sense should let you know that the bag is thin, and it will get hot, but if you hold onto the sides, it's fine. after waiting for about 10... So needless to say I have purchased dozens of different manufacturers dehydrated meals.Mountain House is not only BY FAR consistently the best tasting brand, but their packaging is top notch as well. The PRO series is worth the slight extra expense as it packs better, keeps better, is easier to cook and comes in VERY HANDY one person servings which most other meals do not. With all of that said, the lasagna is my FAVORITE meal of all of Mountian House's offerings. My only complaint is that the cheese sticks to your fork really well and is tough to wash off. The overall flavor, quantity of meat, cheese, and pasta are all excellent. This was the second Pro Pak meal I tried (the other was chicken teriyaki) and this one is 100 times better. Easy to make, compact, and very filling; makes for a nice little trash bag too.
