The morning of the race, they predicted cool and thunderstorms all day. I was glad to have the water when it was 85 and 100% sun instead. As a beginner runner, it held enough water to get me through half the race where my wife was waiting with a refill. The volunteers at the water stops were also refilling people.The belt was extremely comfortable and held 6 GU packets in the front slots and my ID and Smartphone in the pouch(GPS tracking). I did not have any blisters or chaffing as a result of the belt. I did notice at the refill point that the extra weight dropped my pace a bit. First, for that amount of training, I need the large bottles. I also have a Nathan belt, http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0017T1HEG, but it only holds smaller energy gel flasks, not enough for hydration beyond 75 minutes or so. The Camelbak's large bottles were easy to get to while running, easy to put away, did not leak at all, and were easy to open and close on the run. I suspect you could keep the valve in the open position without leakage but I didn't try it yet.Second, the whole system is light and comfortable. I wear a 28" waist pant size, and the belt fit snugly and didn't slide down at all. I do only have a couple of inches to spare in the waist, maybe 3 or 4, so for smaller women I'm not sure how well it would work. Even with the bottles full I barely noticed it was on. I normally run with out water, but because of the heat in MS I am scared to run with out it. I purchased this because I dont want a pack to chafe me on long runs. However, this belt is awesome. It comes with 2 bottles and 2 gel flasks. When I put it on I had it tight but when I started running with it there was a little loosnes which made it bounce. Then I tightened it and didn't move at all. The bottles are great cause with the jet valve all you gotta do is squeeze the bottle and the water/liquid pushed out. No loss in breath from sucking on a straw or bite valve.Great product and would suggest for any sport. |
