This functioned as the only bag for the whole trip. With some packing cubes from another manufacturer, I was amazed how much this bag swallows. We had NO problems using them as carry-on bags, allowing us to keep ALL our stuff with us at all times. The bag functions very well as a back pack with the stowable waist and shoulder straps. Initially my wife wanted a bag with wheels (this adds weight) and a retractable pull-handle (this means a fram inside the bag which takes up space inside the bag), but once we were actually out of airports and hauling gear in/out of our car or in/out of B&B'S, or up stairs (very few elevators during our whole trip), it became very apparent that having wheels on the bag would only help for very short trips from the car to the door of a hotel/B&B/etc...not worth the extra cost or weight. The bag was pretty decent. It was comfortable to wear had lots of space and held its shape well. It had adjustable straps which proved very useful. My only wish was that this back had more pockets on the inside. It has one deep but small pocket at the top and one large zipper down but shallow pocket on the back face and two mesh pockets of the inside within the main zipper down compartment. I managed to store everything in this bag so no complaints as far as storage space. My girlfriend bought the Rick Steves back and I noticed that her bag did not have adjustable shoulder straps so she could not pull the bag closer to her upper body so she was constantly pulling the bag closer to her shoulders which seemed unpleasant. So I was happy that this back could really be tightened well and fitted to my body. The only other cautionary warning I could give is to be careful how you pack your bag. If you put too... This review is from: Osprey Porter 65 (Apparel) I am a very frequent flier and business traveler. I take at least 4 flight segments per week. I was searching for a bag that would accept suits and business attire, but would not need to be checked or even gate checked as I often have tight connections. This is perfect! Suits roll perfect and if you leave the shirts and pants in the plastic from the dry cleaners, then no wrinkles.... The bag is very light, expandable, and very durable ballistic nylon. I learned about this product from my boss, who actually flies more than me. If you are a travel pro and do not mind to carry verses roll your main bag, then this is the one you want.
