One back pocket closes with a zipper, the other has a small velcro tab (not a flap, which are just plain silly and ugly for back pockets). Side pockets, the same; one zips, the other has a velcro-closed flap (OK for side pockets), and both are located nicely, not smack in the front or too far on the side. Even carrying spare batteries and filter for my cameras, along with maps in the side leg pockets didn't show a bulky mass because of the good location of the pockets. The fabric is comfortable and dries extremely quickly; not too thin, and the pockets are a tight netlike material that seems appropriate and works well. The fabric is lightweight, and pulls the sweat away from you. They do look good, but wrinkle a bit. Great choice for travel as they are easy to pack and lightweight. Durable material.I like the pockets on the side instead of the front. They do run small, so order the next size up. I returned one with my normal size. Still tight across the hips. I recently ordered 3 more pairs in various colors which came from a couple different distributors and all 3 were a new style pants. The waist is no longer elastic, and the overall cut is very tight fitting everywhere. The inseam of the crotch is also uncomfortably short giving a perpetual wedgie. I am very disappointed to have to return these and hope Columbia brings the old style back someday. |
