The light made it to me in two days with standard shipping to new york. Upon receiving it I tore into the package like a child on christmas, and immediately started playing around with it. I had my XL100 to compare and was more then blown away with the results. (Aside from ordering the "special display case" and getting the blister pack... who cares really) The XL100 has a position sensor to select between the modes, making it difficult to operate in a hurry for any mode other then on. The 200 has a multiple click type of selector that is by far superior when choosing between modes. Still has the same dimming usage as the 100, which is exceptional. All in all they took the good from the 100, which was really good, and made it all better in a seemingly more durable package with the motionless selector. The lumens are nothing short of amazing coming from a single diode light. Easily flooding a football field distance with no problems illuminating... I ordered this flashlight and it came in just a few days. I've now had it about a week and have used it around the house and for a couple night walks. The instructions are easy to follow and the light itself functions as intended. I just packed it in my suitcase for a trip I'm taking and was grateful for the lockout feature so I don't have to worry about accidentally burning up a set of batteries. As far as the brightness goes, the light seems as bright as expected. Sorry, I don't have any other good flashlights to compare it to, but it is definitely brighter than any of my other lights. The hotspot on this light is about 24 inches diameter at 20 feet. The flood pattern is about 18 foot diameter at 20 feet. The listing on Amazon states that the light has "spot-to-flood" focusing--I don't think this is accurate. The front 1.25 inches of the light including the lens can be unscrewed resulting in a diminished hotspot; however, the flood pattern... I immediately opened it and gave it a try and was very impressed with the results. I have owned several Maglites in the past and this by far is the brightest Maglite for its size. This flashlite incorporates the ease of use as the XL50 and the amount of functions as the XL100; plus it is much brighter than both of them. Granted this is not the brightest Maglite out there, but it is very bright for its size. I own a 3-D cell LED Maglite that is brighter than this, mainly because it is able to focus the beam much better. I'm an automotive technician, so the lack of focusing ability is not a problem.
